VOLUM-e dedicates significant resources to research activities : equivalent to 5 full-time jobs in 2017. These activies consist in technology intelligence, self-funded innovation or R&D projects in partnership.
R&D activities enable both VOLUM-e and Partner organizations to develop new competencies in additive manufacturing technologies or related processes. VOLUM-e innovates to unlock new possible futures and thereby gain a competitive edge.
VOLUM-e is represented by its R&D Director in several committees for standardizing additive manufacturing :
- President of the UNM 920 committee within the Union de Normalisation de la Mécanique,
- Member of the ISO/TC 250 committee within the International Standardization Organization,
- Member of the joint group ISO/ASTM (between the European and the American standardization authorities) on additive manufacturing.
